In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine published a list of the 500 best songs of all time, based on survey 172 famous musicians and music critics.
List consists mostly of American and British artists: 357 of 500 songs from USA and 117 of Britain.
Canada ranks third on the number of submitted performers with ten songs, followed by Ireland with eight.
The list includes only one song by the 20th century and three XXI. Song Muddy Waters “Rollin ‘ stone is the oldest in the list (1948) and takes a 459-Yu position.
The song is a hit version of “Hey Ya!” 2003 (180-I position).
In the list of most songs of the Beatles ? 23 ? and only one of them among the top ten (unlike list of 500 of the best albums of all time magazine rolling stone,
where the top four of their album). The Beatles followed by the rolling stones
(14 songs); Bob Dylan, who also took the first line with the song “like a rolling stone”
(12 records); Elvis Presley (11); The beach boys and Jimi Hendrix (seven songs)
and Chuck Berry, U2, James Brown, Prince, led Zeppelin and Sly & the family Stone (six records)
